Welcome to the trip of a lifetime!
Cairns is a regional city in the far north of Queensland, founded in 1876. It was named after William Wellington Cairns. It was originally formed for miners who were going to Hodgkinson River goldfield but an easier route was found in Port Douglas. It later became a port for exporting goods such as sugar cane, gold and other metals. Today it makes it easier for people to access the Great Barrier Reef. Cairns is the 4th most popular tourist place because of the tropical climate all year around and the natural beauty of the land.
